Dental Fillings, what is it?
Dental fillings are used to repair worn, decayed or damaged teeth and to treat tooth decay. There are two main types of filling material including dental amalgam (also known as silver fillings) and tooth-coloured fillings (also known as white fillings). At River Street Smiles, we will always use white composite filling materials as they typically require less tooth tissue removal and are as strong and as long lasting as amalgam materials. When you receive a filling, we’ll start by removing the decay with a drill and other tools. The hole that remains is cleaned and dried, and then filled with a filling material.
